Newfoundland and Labrador is reporting 48 new cases of COVID-19 today, all in the Eastern Health region.
Seventeen of those were previously listed as presumptive positive cases.
Two people are now in hospital, meaning one more case has been admitted since yesterday.
Twelve of today’s confirmed cases are under the age of 20, 11 are between 20 and 39 years old, 10 are in their 40s, 12 in their 50s, and three over the age of 70.
The total number of active cases in Newfoundland and Labrador is 380. Of those, 372 are in Eastern Health, five in Central Health, and three in Western Health.
There are also a total of six new presumptive positive cases in the Eastern Health and Labrador-Grenfell Health regions since yesterday. That’s in addition to the 21 presumptive positive cases reported yesterday.
Presumptive positive cases are not added to the province’s total active case count until they are confirmed positive by the lab. Officials say it can take several days for them to be confirmed.
There are also 46 presumptive positive cases awaiting confirmation.
