Reporting to NLITA’s Executive Director and working with a passionate team of tourism specialists, the Indigenous Tourism Office Assistant will:
  • Take notes and prepare documents
  • Schedule meetings
  • Order equipment
  • File information and input data
  • Make bookings
  • Coordinate the distribution of material
  • Conduct other duties as assigned by the association
The successful candidate will have:
  • A passion to help others, strong communication skills, an open minded prospective, integrity, positive personality, confidence, and professional approach to business
  • Exceptional computer skills
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Post secondary education (or equivalent experience) in office administration
  • Experience with assisting business owners and non-profit organizations
  • The ability to learn new skills and relay information
  • The ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Indigenous cultural awareness
  • Proficient skills in all Microsoft Office software
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
  • The ability to travel on occasion
 
Duration: 6-month contract (October 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023) with possible extension
Wage: $20.00 per hour at 35 hours per week
  • Laptop and office supplies provided
  • The cost of work-related travel will be covered

The Newfoundland and Labrador Indigenous Tourism Association (NLITA) was established to give the budding provincial Indigenous tourism industry the support it needs to reach its potential. Built on strong values and ensuring accountability to its members, NLITA will strengthen the provincial Indigenous tourism industry through multi-level partnerships and strategic initiatives with the overall goal of creating lasting social and economic benefits for Indigenous peoples and their communities. NLITA is a new non-profit organization governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and operated by paid staff.
