Deer Lake Regional Airport is seeking one (1) Casual Airport Technician / Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team!

What You Will Do
The successful candidate in this safety sensitive role will be required to perform high quality maintenance and preventive maintenance, diagnostics, hydraulic system troubleshooting, overhauling and repairs to the fleet of unique equipment specific to the Deer Lake Regional Airport, as well as light vehicles and other equipment. This candidate is also responsible for aspects of airport operations including; airfield inspection maintenance, aircraft movement surface condition reporting, bird and wildlife management control, maintaining airport grounds, operating and maintaining heavy equipment and ERS vehicles, conducting and performing general maintenance on airport infrastructures, safely storing and applying chemicals and other agents, maintaining records and inventory control, responding to emergency situations in conjunction with the emergency response plan. The incumbent will assume other related duties as assigned.
· Applicants must have experience, certified training and hold a valid certificate in
o Valid Journeyperson or 4th year apprentice Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate
o Training or Certification in Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF)
o Valid driver’s license
o Class 3 Equipment Operators license with an air brake endorsement issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador
o Valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition License
o Certification in powerline hazard training
o Training in operating various types of heavy equipment,
o Standard First Aid/CPR/AED
o WHIMIS 2015
o considerable knowledge of the regulations and safety practices utilized in the operation of heavy equipment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
· Note: Possession of an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit, a Restricted Radio Operators License, training in Airport Wildlife Control, and/or OH&S would be considered assets. Applicants who do not possess these qualifications must be capable of completing these requirements within the probationary period.
