Job Description

We are looking for an experienced full-time bartender to join our team for the summer season! Starting wage will be based on relevant experience.

Job Summary

Prepares and serves drinks and foods. Collects payments for orders. Knows the standard drink recipes and is able to mix them quickly and accurately by following customers’ preferences. Arranges bottles and barware, washes glasses, and cleans the bar. Checks the identification of customers to ensure they have the minimum drinking age.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To provide efficient and courteous service to each guest.
  • To pour wine and beer.
  • To mix ingredients according to recipes to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • To slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • To wash glassware and utensils after each use.
  • To collect payment and operate cash register.
  • To prepare deposit and ensure balance and cash float is accurate.
  • To serve food to customers seated at the bar.
  • To check identification of customers to make sure they have age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • To determine when a customer has had too much alcohol, stop serving and ensure a safe ride home is arranged.
  • To clean up after customers and to clean work area.
  • To monitor and maintain an inventory of supplies.
  • To complete inventory of all alcoholic beverages before and after each shift and balance to end of shift report.
  • To prepare orders to maintain liquor and bar supplies.
  • To arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • To handle and move objects, such as glasses and bottles, using hands and arms.
  • To remove empty bottles and trash and to replace empty beer kegs.
  • To stock the bar by bringing liquor bottles, mixed drink ingredients, and other bar supplies from the storeroom to the bar.
  • To perform physical activities such as lifting and stooping.
  • To maintain customers’ privacy.
  • To attend guests’ requests for extra supplies or other items.
  • To provide basic information on facilities.
  • To maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • To maintain friendly, cheerful, and courteous manners at all times.
  • To perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.
  • Food and safety certification is an asset.
  • Previous hotel-related experience is an asset.
  • Experience in customer service and people management.
  • Knowledge of drink recipes.
  • Ability to handle large crowds.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and skills.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks during busy, sometime stressful times.
  • Must maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.60 per hour
