We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented individual to assume the role of Junior Accountant with the YYT Hospitality Group, including Yellow Belly Brewery Ltd./O’Reilly’s Irish Bar. The Junior Accountant reports to the Controller & Owners of YYT Hospitality group and contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks, overseeing budgeting and accounting.
The Junior Accountant supports the Controller by examining and analyzing accounting records of organizations (or individuals). They are responsible for ensuring accuracy in data and reporting, and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures. The Junior Accountant will be expected to prepare and consolidate financial statements, establish, and maintain internal controls, and assist the Controller with month-end and year-end processes, among other duties.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Assisting Controller in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
- Preparing and submitting weekly and monthly financial reports
- Updating financial data in databases to ensure the accuracy of the information
- Assisting with reviewing payroll records and expenses, among other items as assigned
- Assisting in the processing of income statements, balance sheets, and other financial statements as per the company’s legal, financial, and accounting guidelines
- Performing reconciliations, updating accounts payable and receivable, and issuing invoices
- Processing financial entries to ensure a proper recording of all business transactions
- Developing monthly financial statements that include profit and loss statements, cash flow records, and balance sheets
- Examining and analyzing accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with
established accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls
- Managing or assisting) with both internal and external audits
- Preparing detailed reports on audit outcomes and providing recommendations to improve accounting and management practices within the company
- Developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Providing leadership, training, and development to finance and accounting staff
- Researching accounting issues where necessary for compliance with generally accepted compliance principles
- Overseeing and executing payroll functions and petty cash
Qualifications
- Professional accredited accounting designation supplemented with an undergraduate business degree an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior accounting roles
- Strong financial background and ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions

- Salary $65,000 / year paid on a bi-weekly schedule
