JAG hotel is building a new Wellness Centre! The Wellness Centre includes a lap pool, hot tub, sauna, gym, and limited services. We are seeking a full-time permanent Wellness Centre Supervisor to join our team at JAG Hotel, located in St. John’s, NL.
Our ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for wellness and a strong desire to assist others in their wellness and self-care. They should possess a creative mindset to contribute to the vision of our new Wellness Centre, including its creation, development, and planning. Additionally, they will play a key role in coordinating our special packages and events.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity
- Understanding and responding to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner
- Adhering to and keeping staff accountable to all Standard Operating Procedures, Health & Safety, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives
- Leading with the philosophy that we can always do better and to take time to critically analyze the daily operation to come up with new ways to “wow our guests”
- Coordinating the supervision of all offerings at the Wellness Centre
- Preparing work schedules and assign areas of responsibility
- Performing payroll tasks as scheduled and make adjustments prior to submitting
- Interpreting and reacting in a team approach to challenges in the Wellness Centre
- Monitoring hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime
- Effectively engaging in everyday communications, including performance management
- Actively participating in the weekly Management Committee meetings
- Leading, hiring, training, coaching, developing and supervising all team members
- Performing regular inventory and assisting in ordering special items for the department
- Accurately managing membership payments and renewals
- Coordinating the upkeep and maintenance of the Wellness Centre
- Ensuring daily communication to all department staff of daily goals
- Overseeing opening and closing of the services and facilities offered at the Wellness Centre
- Conducting safety, efficiency and integrity checks of all areas
- Implementing programs and improvements for an efficient operation of the related facilities
- Performing front line attendant duties, as needed
- Ensuring all staff have all required and up to date safety/training certifications
- Flexible availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed in the Hospitality Industry
- Regularly communicating with members by distributing newsletters, emails, and our handouts
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:
- Completion of a post-secondary education in esthetics, business management, recreation or a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years Supervisory work experience including developing schedules, creating guest experiences and marketing opportunities.
- Experience/operation knowledge working with pools, saunas, hot tubs.
- Experience in esthetics an asset
- First Aid & CPR certifications is an asset
- WHMIS training considered an asset
- Superior time management, attention to detail, organization and problem resolution skills
- Proven leadership and decision-making skills
- A high quality of standards for service, customer service focused
- Courteous and friendly, genuinely like interacting with people
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Adaptable to change and be able to handle multiple priorities under pressure
- Excellent computer skills
