Reporting to NLITA’s Executive Director and working with a passionate team of tourism specialists, the Indigenous Tourism Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the creation of Indigenous Tourism marketing that builds awareness, inspires travel, and increases sales. 
The Indigenous Tourism Experience Coordinator will:
  • Work one on one with Indigenous Tourism operators to assist them with marketing their offerings
  • Develop creative content that showcases Indigenous Tourism offerings and packaged itineraries to prospective media, travel trade, and the general public
  • Update NLITA website and market-ready Indigenous Tourism listings
  • Work with marketing specialists to create branded material for distribution
  • Create content and actively market NLITA’s membership opportunity, events, training sessions, and other Indigenous Tourism initiatives
  • Coordinate all NLITA social media pages and Indigenous Tourism Industry social media pages
  • Implement an internal and external communication plan and awareness campaign
  • Work with NLITA partners to develop a library of high-quality engaging photos, videos, and messages
  • Work with provincial government staff to increase the frequency of Indigenous content on, at visitor centers, and through the provinces sense of arrival strategy
  • Assist with Indigenous Tourism Engagement Tours
  • Work collectively with NLITA staff to organize and host large scale Indigenous Tourism events, to establish and maintain business relationships, and to participant in Indigenous Tourism cultural events, conferences, workshops, and learning opportunities.  
  • Conduct other duties as assigned by the association
The successful candidate will have:
  • A passion to help others reach their goals, strong communication skills, an open minded prospective, integrity, positive personality, confidence, and professional approach to business
  • Successfully completed post-secondary education (or have equivalent experience) in Tourism, Marketing & Branding, Indigenous Cultural Studies, Adult Education, Graphic Design, and / or Arts
  • Experience with assisting business owners and non-profit organizations
  • An artistic eye
  • The ability to create and mimic
  • The ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Indigenous cultural awareness
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Proficient skills in all Microsoft Office software and other graphic design software
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
  • The ability to travel and the ability to take part in a wide assortment of indoor and outdoor tourism related experiences
Expected start date: as soon as possible

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 per year

The Newfoundland and Labrador Indigenous Tourism Association (NLITA) was established to give the budding provincial Indigenous tourism industry the support it needs to reach its potential. Built on strong values and ensuring accountability to its members, NLITA will strengthen the provincial Indigenous tourism industry through multi-level partnerships and strategic initiatives with the overall goal of creating lasting social and economic benefits for Indigenous peoples and their communities. NLITA is a new non-profit organization governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and operated by paid staff.
