COVID-19 has caused significant disruption to the tourism labour market, much greater than the economy overall (with slower recovery, and disproportionately impacting youth and minority populations). Although more than 450,000 tourism workers are still displaced, businesses are having a hard time finding workers already and it’s going to get much worse (why is this the case?). This session will feature the most current labour force data and insights, and look at what it will take to restart the Canada’s tourism workforce.
