Job Description

The Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society is seeking 2 Museum Interpreters with the primary responsibility of interacting with visitors at our Heritage Centre. This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs.

Requirements:
-be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

-be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment , and

-have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Responsibilities:

-To greet and welcome all visitors to the Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Centre

-To obtain a good understanding of the history of the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor and to impart that knowledge to visitors while providing interpretive tours of the Heritage Centre

-To provide information to tourists about local services and attractions in the community

-To assist with the development and implementation of events, programs, and projects

-To have a basic understanding of the Collection of archival material housed at the Heritage Centre so they can respond to requests for information

-To learn to use the museum database software, Past Perfect and to be able respond to requests for historical photos using this software application

-When not interacting with visitors, assisting with organizing and maintaining displays and information

and assisting us in the cataloguing, documenting and digitization of our collection
