Ethree Consulting is actively recruiting for the permanent, full-time position of Chief Operating Officer on behalf of our client, Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, located in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

Overview of the Role

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our senior leadership team and help Hospitality NL move our mission forward. In this key leadership role, you will drive operational excellence, financial stewardship, and member engagement to support the association’s mission.

Your areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Lead and implement initiatives that support members and strengthen the tourism industry.
  • Manage financial planning, budgeting, and organizational sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain key partnerships with members, industry stakeholders, and government.
  • Support advocacy efforts to advance industry priorities and drive policy change.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team to deliver exceptional programs and services.
  • Manage and guide key HR functions to ensure effective HR oversight.
  • Strong working knowledge of Quickbooks and preparation of financial statements.

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, tourism management, finance, human resources, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in operations, ideally within member-based organizations or the tourism sector.
  • Proven financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting, and identifying new revenue opportunities, with knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Strong experience in member engagement and delivering impactful programs and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and create an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Proficient in optimizing operations through technology and process improvements.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passionate about driving success in the tourism sector with a strategic and member-focused mindset.
  • Experienced in human resource management.
