Cliff’s Edge Retreat is a premium, year-round oceanfront retreat located on the East Coast Trail. Pastry and baking are a core part of THE FORAGER, our on-site restaurant, and a key contributor to the exceptional guest experiences we create for visitors from Newfoundland, across Canada, and around the world.
THE FORAGER is more than a restaurant. We celebrate Newfoundland’s foraging culture—rooted in survival, community, and resourcefulness—and are actively helping shape the future of Newfoundland cuisine. Traditional Newfoundland baked goods, especially fresh bread, are an essential part of that story and a meaningful part of the experience guests take with them.
We are seeking a highly creative, versatile Pastry Chef who loves to create and thrives in a collaborative, small-team environment. This role plays an important part in representing Newfoundland’s baked-goods tradition through thoughtful, well-crafted breads, pastries, and desserts that elevate the overall guest experience.
This is a team-based role. The Pastry Chef works closely with the culinary team and the broader guest experience team to ensure that baking is fully integrated into the Cliffs Edge Retreat experience. While pastry-focused, flexibility to support other kitchen areas as needed is essential.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute desserts, pastries, breads, and baked goods
- Help shape the pastry and baking identity of THE FORAGER
- Develop seasonal offerings using local and foraged ingredients
- Contribute to exceptional, memorable guest experiences through baking
- Collaborate closely with the culinary and guest experience teams
- Support other kitchen functions as required
- Maintain food safety, consistency, and quality standards
Requirements
- Professional pastry or baking experience (formal training an asset)
- High creativity and pride in craftsmanship
- Strong team player with a guest-first mindset
- Versatility and willingness to work across stations in a small team
- Genuine pride in Newfoundland culture and a desire to help celebrate it to the world through food
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00-$35.00 per hour
