Business Development Officer

Job Summary

CBDC Celtic is looking for an experienced professional with a background in business, finance, or accounting to join our team as a Business Development Officer. The position is full-time and is based in Ferryland, NL.

CBDC Celtic is a not-for-profit community-based organization covering Mall Bay in St. Mary’s Bay to Goulds/Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove. We are governed by a Board of Directors. Our organization has been providing financial assistance, business counselling, training, and development for over 35 years. We support the growth of social enterprises and business entrepreneurs.

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Business Development Officer to drive growth and expand our market presence. In this role, you will identify new business opportunities, foster strong client relationships, and develop strategic initiatives to achieve organizational goals. Your energetic approach and strategic mindset will be essential in navigating competitive landscapes, negotiating deals, and managing projects that contribute to our long-term success.

Duties

• Meet with clients to assess needs and identify appropriate financing and business support programs
• Review and evaluate business plans, financial statements, and loan applications
• Assist with the administration, monitoring, and management of the loan portfolio
• Deliver programs and initiatives that support business growth and economic development
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, community partners, and stakeholders
• Promote CBDC Celtic programs and services throughout the region
• Prepare reports, and presentations as required
• Participate in events and networking opportunities to support economic development

Skills

• Degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years’ experience in commercial lending, financial analysis, business development, economic development, or a related field
• Knowledge of community economic development principles and business support programs
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and other spreadsheet-based financial tools.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication sills
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
• Knowledge of CBDC Celtic service region would be considered an asset

Pay: $68,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:
