Shipping Supervisor

THE ROLE – SHIPPING SUPERVISOR – GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR FACILITY

Browning Harvey Ltd. is currently looking for a full time, permanent employee for the role of Shipping Supervisor in our Grand Falls-Windsor facility.

The Shipping Supervisor provides leadership to all aspects of warehouse operations and is responsible to manage the day-to-day supervision of the Warehouse employees to ensure a safe and efficient work environment which complies with all Browning Harvey Ltd. Quality Control/Food Safety requirements.

In this position, the successful candidate will be required to:

• Lead by example; build and champion a progressive safety culture; implement systems where employees, equipment and processes are protected against hazards;
• Directly supervise unionized warehouse employees and work closely with Browning Harvey’s distribution network;
• Schedule shipping employees’ shifts based on seniority and work to be completed;
• Manage department for the efficient loading/unloading of trucks/trailers;
• Maintain accurate records of goods received/shipped;
• Work closely with the Production Supervisor to coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments;
• Conduct physical count of warehousing inventory as required;
• Provide hands on leadership and mentoring to the employees of the warehouse;
• Be a continuous improvement leader;
• Coordinate required employee training;

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Education:

• High school diploma;
• Courses obtained and/or experience gained in Inventory Management;
• Effective competence in safety management, TDG/IMDG, WHMIS;
• Experience with Lean manufacturing techniques.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years' logistics experience, coupled with 3 years' experience in a supervisory role;
• Knowledge of warehouse management systems considered an asset;
• Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team;
• Commitment to Quality Control, Food Safety, Health & Safety requirements;
• Knowledge with warehousing and goods procurement;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written);
• Leadership and team work skills that support a team-based operation;
• Creative problem solver and able to respond to various situations with appropriate urgency;
• Knowledge of supply chain and inventory methodologies.

Skills:

• Warehouse and Inventory Management modules;
• Knowledge of warehousing and goods procurement;
• Effectively lead and motivate a team;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written;
• Demonstrates creative problem solving and able to respond to various situations;
• Effective written and oral communication skills;
• Aptitude for computers, other technology and database analysis;
• Highly developed analytical skills to assess issues and resolve;
• Proven ability to work in a fast pace environment and utilize superior decision making and leadership skills.
