Catering & Banquet Service Chef
Full-time | 208 Gower Street
We're a well-established catering and production company looking for a chef who's ready to help take our kitchen to the next level. If you've spent your career sharpening your craft in catering kitchens and you want a place where your ideas actually move the business forward, this is that role.
About the Role
You'll lead the culinary side of our catering and banquet operations: building menus that delight guests, managing the back-of-house team, and owning the numbers behind every event. From intimate corporate luncheons to large-scale weddings and galas, you'll be the chef our clients trust to deliver consistently, every plate, every event.
What You'll Do:
- Plan, prep, and execute menus for catering and banquet events of all sizes
- Portion food accurately to recipe and event spec, keeping quality high and waste low
- Calculate supply costs, build pricing for menus, and manage food cost margins
- Source ingredients, manage vendor relationships, and negotiate pricing on supplies
- Lead and mentor a kitchen team in a calm, ownership-driven environment
- Partner with the events and sales teams to design custom menus for clients
- Identify opportunities to grow the business: new offerings, new markets, smarter operations
What You Bring:
- Proven experience as a chef in a catering, banquet, or high-volume event environment
- Strong command of food portioning and yield management
- Comfort with the math: costing recipes, pricing supplies, building margins into menus
- A genuine desire to help grow an established business, not just maintain it
- A leadership style built on supporting your team rather than doing their work for them
- Calm under pressure (banquets don't reschedule themselves)
- Red Seal certification or equivalent experience, and current Food Safe
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary based on experience
- A workplace where collaboration beats hierarchy and good ideas win
- Real input on menu direction and business growth
- Benefits package and paid time off
- The chance to leave your fingerprints on a company that's had 30 years of success and continuing to grow
