Steele Hotels Limited is currently seeking a full-time Executive Chef to join our team at The Capital Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The successful candidate will oversee menus, preparation, communication, ordering of supplies, and scheduling. The Executive Chef will be responsible for ensuring all events at the hotel are a great dining experience for our guests and held to our high-quality standard. This position will report directly to the General Manager of the Hotel.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement new menus, considering food costs and seasonal ingredient availability
- Train kitchen staff on preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation for all menu items and features
- Lead and supervise kitchen operations, applying performance management best practices
- Maintain food quality and service standards, ensuring all hotel requirements are consistently met
- Manage inventory, including ordering products, receiving deliveries, and verifying accuracy against purchase orders
- Conduct and reconcile weekly and monthly inventory counts, implementing effective inventory control measures as required
- Prepare kitchen schedules and manage labour costs to optimize efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations
- Drive operational profitability while delivering high levels of client satisfaction
- Coordinate and execute banquet and event menus, ensuring timely service and exceptional presentation
- Perform other duties, as required
Qualifications, Skills, & Attributes:
- Diploma in Culinary Arts, or equivalent in professional training; Red Seal Certification is considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years' professional kitchen experience with at least 2 years in senior culinary leadership
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to manage food costs and kitchen budgets
- Experience in menu development, food costing, and inventory control
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentorship abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations
