Audio-Visual Technician

Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.

Steele Hotels is looking for an Audio-Visual Technician to join its growing team at our JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive "can-do" attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with excellent technical abilities and critical thinking skills. The successful candidate must be comfortable working at heights, in a fast-paced environment, with conditions varying at times throughout different events.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and dismantle AV equipment efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during events.
  • Apply technical expertise to address equipment and software problems.
  • Collaborate with teams to customized AV, lighting, and staging solutions based on project requirements.
  • Oversee events, checking in with clients and addressing any equipment issues promptly.
  • Load, unload, store, and maintain AV equipment from vehicles.
  • Complete required paperwork and data entry accurately and on time.
  • Provide exceptional service to enhance the client experience.
  • Complete other duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills, & Attributes:

  • 10+ years of proven experience in the AV industry
  • Education in audio-visual media, multimedia communications, or film and television studies would be considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively in a time sensitive situations.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overnights.

· Fork lift, Scissor lift and Fall arrest

· Qsys and Dante systems, Avid S6L, EAW Anya Adaptive audio systems
