The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Regional Controller to join our finance team on a 15-month maternity leave contract. This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations across multiple hotel properties, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong financial performance. The Regional Controller will play a key role in guiding decision-making and supporting operational leaders through insightful financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, interpret, and report financial data to management and stakeholders
- Provide regular reports on company performance against strategic and operational objectives
- Analyze costs versus budget to assess financial performance and identify risks
- Manage budgets and control expenses across properties
- Oversee all accounts payable and receivable to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper controls
- Prepare reports and evaluations for individual projects and initiatives
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures related to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and project tracking
- Collaborate with departmental leaders to monitor spending, budgeting, and reporting accuracy
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and hotel financial reporting standards
- Lead, supervise, and mentor finance department staff on accounting, internal controls, and budgeting matters
- Investigate and resolve variances in budgets, reporting, and accounting
- Oversee hiring, training, development, and performance appraisals for finance team members
- Coordinate and arrange audits as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience, preferably in hospitality or multi-property operations
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated success in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency in financial software and MS Office Suite (Excel advanced level preferred)
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
Working Conditions
- Travel may be required
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations
- This is an in-person position
Type of Supervision Required
Reports to the Area General Manager. Works under general instructions to prioritize and complete assigned tasks.
