Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.
Steele Hotels is looking for a Door Person to join our growing team at JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive "can-do" attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and excellent customer service skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Open the hotel door, and greet guests warmly upon arrival and departure, creating a positive first impression
- Help guests with their luggage, including loading and unloading bags from vehicles and providing secure storage when needed
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries and requests, addressing complaints or issues as they arise
- Coordinate with housekeeping, concierge, and front desk staff regarding guest requests and report unusual occurrences to management
- Familiarize themselves with hotel emergency protocols and assist in evacuating guests, if necessary
- Ensure the entrance and lobby area are clean, organized, and welcoming
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well groomed
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- A minimum of 1-year relevant experience in a similar role would be considered an asset
- Customer service experience is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with safety and security procedures
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well with guests and the public
- Ability to handle difficult situations with patience and professionalism
- Capacity to stand for extended periods of time and ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
