ABOUT YOU
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to lead our team and provide exceptional service for our guests as the next manager of Gros Morne Inn?  Do you enjoy bringing new and creative ideas to help drive revenue and building strong relationships with guests to create memorable experiences? Our ideal candidate brings a high standard of service quality along with at least 5 or more years of hospitality experience, preferably in a hotel or Inn management role. As the Inn manager, you will oversee quality control, sales and marketing, guest interactions and HR matters. If this describes you, apply today!
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED; degree in hospitality or related field of study preferred
  • Must have at least 5 or more years of experience in the hospitality field
  • Previous experience as a hotel manager, assistant manager, or hotel department manager required
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven customer service experience as a manager; strong guest-focused mentality
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities required.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. With a focus on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous. Ability to use tact and diplomacy to resolve any conflicts.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with report writing, software and point of sales programs considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial statements and budgetary analysis capabilities is considered an asset.
  • Degree or diploma in hotel and restaurant management is considered an asset.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide the vision, leadership, and strategy that inspires your staff to deliver exceptional guest service that drives financial success
  • Collaborate with the organizations department leaders to define goals and objectives that are compatible with the overall operation goals, as well as strategies for achieving them
  • Manages restaurant staff, works with liquor, beer and wine reps and is responsible for liquor, beer & wine inventory and ordering.
  • Creates schedule of inn and restaurant staff
  • Manage the pre allocated budget to maximize profit margins while keeping costs in balance with guest satisfaction and quality of services
  • Lead sales and marketing efforts by implementing a targeted strategy for publicizing the Inn’s services and amenities
  • Anticipates and assesses guests' needs and responds in a courteous and professional manner working as a concierge to guests
  • Managers HR matters. including training, assigning work, coaching/counseling, and performance management
  • Responds to emails, answers phone calls, makes, monitors, and manages reservations as needed
  • Communicates with management and/or maintenance to report maintenance and/or repair needs
  • Handle guest complaints and work to resolve issues
  • Implement the organization's waste reduction policy and sustainable tourism promise.
  • Work with Inn and Taste Restaurant to ensure the highest standard of recycling, composting and reduction of waste is in effect throughout the Inn.
  • Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met. Also attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
  • Build an open and trusting environment where everyone's opinion is shared and valued.
  • Events experience an asset. Inn Manager will work closely with the management team in the lead up to and execution of weddings and events.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND BENEFITS
  • Wage to be negotiated (based on experience)
  • 26 weeks @50 hours, 26 weeks @30 hours
  • 10 month seasonal business operation
  • Required to be onsite May - Oct, flexible  Nov-April
  • 2 weeks paid vacation (based on full time employment)
  • 6 sick days annually
  • 1-year contract with possibility of extension
