ABOUT YOU
This position oversees all aspects of the daily operation and long-term direction of Food and Beverage (F&B) at Taste Restaurant in Gros Morne Inn as well as other F&B experiences Taste of Gros Morne offers. The F&B Manager is responsible for working with various management to develop and oversee the overall strategic vision of the culinary program, including menu design, profitable financial management, effective leadership, excellent customer service and supervision of food and beverage standards.  The chosen candidate will have a wealth of culinary experience and a desire to focus on the development of our team and excellent interpersonal and management skills. The Taste Manger will work with the managerial team to further establish and grow with the Taste of Gros Morne’s culinary reputation and dining experience to advance its restaurant and culinary experiences towards being the best in Newfoundland and Labrador.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
OR
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
  • Physical Requirement- Constant standing and walking throughout shift. Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water. Must be able to lift and carry 35lbs to 50lbs.
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Standard First Aid
  • Driver’s License
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Experienced leader able to inspire, delegate, set expectation and supervise the front of house and culinary teams to work collaboratively in designing world class menus and exceptional culinary and dining experiences.
  • Previous experience with creating schedules, labor costing, employee performance management required.
  • Monitors and maintains the productivity level of employees. Communicates areas that need attention to staff and follows up to verify understanding.
  • Assists in the ordering of Food and Beverage (F&B) supplies, cleaning supplies and uniforms.
  • Supervises daily F&B shift operation and monitors compliance with all F&B policies, standards and procedures.
  • Supervises staffing levels to verify that guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
  • Verifies that all team members/supervisors understand the brand specific philosophy.
  • Coordinates cleaning program in all F&B areas (e.g., General clean), identifying trends and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Understands employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence.
  • Experience with report writing software and point of sales (POS) programs considered an asset.
  • Work with the Creative Director and Owner to ensure we follow Gros Morne Inn and Taste of Gros Morne’s sustainability promise and choose products that are free-range, ocean wise certified (seafood), plastic-waste free and locally raised or grown whenever possible.
  • Work with Inn and Taste to ensure the highest standard of recycling, composting and reduction of food waste is in effect.
  • Responds in a timely manner to customer service department requests.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. With a focus on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous. Ability to use tact and diplomacy to resolve any conflicts.
  • Responsible and capable of working with Taste staff and managers to plan and host on and off site catering events for up to 150 people
  • Build an open and trusting environment where everyone's opinion is shared and valued.
  • Events experience an asset. Taste Manager will work closely with Kitchen, Gros Morne Inn Manager and Creative Director in the lead up to and execution of weddings and events.
  • Lead with inspiration.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND BENEFITS
  • Wage Range $20hr. (based on experience)
  • 4-season business operation
  • 2 weeks paid vacation (based on full-time employment)
  • 6 sick days annually
  • Accommodations onsite available as needed
  • 1-year contract with possibility of extension

LOCATION: Gros Morne Inn, Shoal Brook, Newfoundland (required). May be required to work off site within Gros Morne National Park and throughout western, NL.
