We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Chief Dispatcher for our St. John's, NL base!

The Deputy Chief Dispatcher supports the Chief Dispatcher in overseeing flight dispatch operations and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role assists in coordinating operational control activities, maintaining accurate records, supporting training programs, and ensuring safe and efficient flight planning and monitoring. The Deputy Chief Dispatcher acts as a key resource for administrative and technical support within the Operations Center.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Dispatcher in providing administrative and technical support to flight dispatch personnel.
• Coordinate with operational departments to facilitate communication regarding operational control activities.
• Support the development and implementation of operational control standards, policies, and procedures.
• Assist in delivering operational control services, including flight planning, flight watch, weather briefing, and communications.
• Help monitor and maintain training records for flight dispatch personnel, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in ensuring flights are properly planned, released, and monitored in accordance with established standards and regulations.
• Support the preparation and updating of Operational Control SOPs and manuals.
• Assist in monitoring Flight Dispatcher performance and providing feedback to the Chief Dispatcher.
• Maintain accurate records related to evaluations, training, and scheduling.
• Assist in administrative duties related to employee scheduling and payroll.
• Support training activities, including identifying needs and assisting in the development of training materials.
• Coordinate with external agencies as directed to support operational control requirements.
• Participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) program, including assisting with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Assist in maintaining the publications library, ensuring all operational documents are current and accessible.
• Assume the roles of the Chief Dispatcher in their absence.
• Maintain Type B Certification
• Participate in operational meetings
• Cover operational control shifts as required
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Dispatcher or Operations Center Manager.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in flight dispatch or aviation operations preferred.
• Strong understanding of operational control principles and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in relevant software and systems used in flight dispatch operations.
