Job Description

Blue on Water is seeking a line cook to join our talented team. Line cooks prepare dishes to order in a professional manner in accordance with the standards set by the Head Chef. Successful candidates will have the ability to work at a fast pace, under pressure, without sacrificing quality and be able to demonstrate flexibility within their role.

Duties:

  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and food.
  • Portion, arrange and garnish food.
  • Prepare food as required to ensure the line is always stocked.
  • Assist chef in their supervision of the cooks.
  • Notify the chef in advance of likely shortages.
  • Maintain records of food, storage and, cooling temperatures in accordance with food safety guidelines.
  • Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and work environment throughout the shift.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Head Chef, Sous Chef or, General Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Culinary skills in a professional environment.
  • Ability to work on your feet all day and lift light to medium loads.
  • Requires the ability to give attention to detail and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Polite and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Passion for food and creative flair.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility with scheduling (weekend and/or evening hours) and able to work on short notice.
  • Ability to work under pressure both independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Must have previous experience cooking in a restaurant environment.

Education:

  • Food safe and Post-Secondary Culinary education would be considered an asset.

  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed
