We are currently looking for a permanent full time Housekeeping and Front Desk Supervisor for the Quality Hotel in Gander. This position will report directly to the Manager of the Quality Hotel and Suites. This position is a management position and scheduling would be dependent on operational requirements. The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude, an ability to think quickly on their feet, and reliable. Responsibilities and skills required are listed below:
Responsibilities and Duties
- Scheduling of the Housekeeping and Front Desk departments
- Room inspections, ensuring high quality turnovers, assigning rooms accordingly to housekeepers
- Maintaining supply inventory continuously, with month end inventory reporting and ordering when required
- Ensuring all staff are training in both departments with the required credentials, and knowledge of company polices
- Manages day-to-day operations of the front desk team to ensure compliance with all operating procedures
- Oversee check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all financial transactions are in compliance with operating procedures
- Manages staffing levels to ensure guest satisfaction and financial objectives are met. This may include hiring, training, and scheduling
- Book reservations, handle group bookings and bus tours, and daily reporting duties of the general office. Assist in overall supervision of meetings/banquets when required.
- Anticipate and handle any guest requests and concerns/complaints to satisfy their needs within acceptable guidelines. Compile and maintain a guest database with loyalty programs, special requests, etc. Implement and monitor all brand marketing programs. Implement incentive programs to assure employee motivation
- Check and control room reservations, yield management, front office systems, supplies inventory, scheduling, forecasting, and department budget to maximize revenue
- Assist in overall supervision of other departments by being acting Manager on Duty during evening and weekends and report back any problems/questions/concerns
- All other duties assigned by the Manager or General Manager
Qualifications:
- Excellent leadership, management, and team-building skills
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, manage time, reliable and dependable
- Knowledge of the collective agreement and experience working in an unionized environment
