Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This position requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Duties

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace.
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines in the kitchen.

Physical Demands

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Lifting and carrying heavy items such as pots, pans, food supplies, etc.
  • Repetitive motion.
  • Bending and Stooping.
  • Working in hot environments near grills, ovens and fryers.
  • Proficiency in using kitchen tools and equipment, including knives and other sharp instruments.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • A passion for culinary arts and willingness to learn new techniques.
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from RCMP or local police authority.

Pay: From $16.27 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 2024-12-15
