Fishing for Success (F4S) is a volunteer-based nonprofit social enterprise museum located in Petty Harbour that works to transmit the intangible cultural heritage of Newfoundland & Labrador's family fishery. We advocate for an inclusive, gender-equitable and sustainable small-scale fishery that can help combat climate change and contribute to food sovereignty through better local seafood access. We provide free or reduced-cost programming for women, children, youth, newcomers, and Indigenous community members by partnering with other like-minded nonprofits. We generate revenue by offering unique visitor, group, special occasion, and conference offerings – to people just like you! Thank you for supporting our work!
We are honoured to be the recipients of the 2021 Memorial University Newfoundland President’s Award for Public
Engagement Partnerships, the 2022 Sustainable Tourism Award sponsored by Hospitality Newfoundland &
Labrador and Parks Canada, and the 2022 Nature Inspiration Award for Community Action presented by the
Canadian Museum of Nature.
Fishing for Success is a proud member of the Museum Association of Newfoundland & Labrador and the Canadian
Museum Association, and a TAP certified member of Newfoundland & Labrador Tourism.Through partnerships with Project WET Canada, EcoSchools Canada, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the development of our experiential Sea2School program, we are providing resources that connect youth in coastal communities to fishing as a cornerstone of ocean literacy and food equity.
