    Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s amalgamated in 1992, and has since rapidly grown to an estimated 6500 people in 2006. Many people come to the community to enjoy a rural flavoured environment, while still enjoying the amenities that larger centers have to offer. The Town is rich in history and is an excellent place to witness the spectacular views offered by Newfoundland’s unique landscape.

    Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is one of the largest municipalities in Newfoundland and Labrador, spreading over 56.43 square kilometers. It borders the City of St. John’s on the east side, and the Town of Paradise to the west. Most residents can reach major areas of the City and the St. John’s International Airport in 10-15 minutes. In addition, the Trans Canada Highway can be reached in only 5 minutes! The Town is accessible via many roads, including Portugal Cove Road, Thorburn Road, St. Thomas Line, Indian Meal Line and Bauline Line. Several churches and an elementary school are situated in the Town, along with many other services.
