As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Funeral Services Instructor to deliver engaging, practical, and learner-focused instruction in our Funeral Services training programs.
The Role
As a Funeral Services Instructor, you will support students by delivering course material aligned with current legislation, industry standards, and professional best practices. You will contribute to student success through interactive learning, hands-on skill development, and meaningful coaching—helping prepare graduates for careers in funeral service and related fields.
What You’ll Do
- Delivering engaging, theory-based instruction in subjects such as funeral service law and ethics, psychology of death, pathology, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, funeral service management, and professional relations
- Developing lesson plans, course materials, and assessments aligned with program learning outcomes and professional licensing requirements
- Evaluating student learning and providing clear, constructive feedback to support academic and professional development
- Supporting students’ understanding of ethical decision-making, professional conduct, and culturally responsive care for bereaved families
- Integrating real-world scenarios and case studies to reinforce theoretical concepts and professional standards
- Maintaining accurate academic records and course documentation
- Collaborating with clinical and lab instructors to ensure consistency between theory instruction and applied learning
- Participating in curriculum review and continuous program improvement initiatives
- Staying current with changes in funeral service legislation, professional standards, and educational best practices
What You Bring
- Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Newfoundland (required) to support departmental approval requirements
- Minimum 6 years total combined experience (education and/or professional experience)
- Strong knowledge of funeral service standards, ethics, and professional practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support adult learners
- Comfort using technology for instruction (e.g., Microsoft Office, learning platforms, online delivery tools)
- A professional, compassionate, and student-focused approach
- Prior teaching, training, facilitation, or instructional experience is considered an asset
