Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Maintenance Support position is based on Fogo Island, and will support the Fogo Island Inn’s Operations, Maintenance, and Facilities teams in performing a variety of functions. Reporting to the Facilities Director, this role is integral to providing a world class experience for our guests. In this role you will be committed to safety and thrive by supporting Team Members complete varying tasks. You will assist with routine upkeep of the Fogo Island Inn, execute minor repairs, and perform basic troubleshooting of equipment or systems. This role is ideal for someone interested in building technical skills in areas like plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC maintenance.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general Inn systems.
- Perform minor repairs on Inn equipment, fixtures, and furnishings, including fixing leaks, changing bulbs, and basic troubleshooting.
- Help with scheduled maintenance tasks to keep equipment and facilities in optimal working condition.
- Clean and organize mechanical rooms, boiler room, maintenance offices as required.
- Assist in the lifting and moving of furniture and other items as needed.
- Perform painting touch ups or finishing as required.
- Assist with snow clearing of entrance and walkways, apply sand and/or salt if necessary.
- Keep firewood stocked for wood stoves and boilers, replenish as necessary.
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
- Follow and enforce all applicable safety rules and procedures.
- Other Duties as required.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Prior experience in maintenance or a technical field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of tools, mechanical systems, and general repair work.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately and safely.
- Clear verbal communication skills to interact with team members and guests as needed.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license is an essential requirement.
- Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekend, and on-call hours, as needed.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
