Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.
Steele Hotels is looking for a Banquet Server to join our growing team at JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive "can-do" attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and critical thinking skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Being polite and courteous to guests and team members while running food from the kitchen to the tables
- Serving food and beverages to guests at their tables or at serving stations
- Supporting other staff members who may need help in order to maintain guest satisfaction
- Keeping guests and staff members safe by following safety and quality regulations
- Pointing guests in the right direction for necessary services and features of the event
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well groomed
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- Previous experience as a server is preferred
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job such as standing for extended periods of time, carrying heavy objects, equipment setup and breakdown
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions
